6 Reasons Why You Haven't Seen Any Changes!

One thing my clients will say about me is that, "Pete doesn't believe in the scale!" My thought is this, if you lose 10lbs of fat but gain 10lbs of muscle, or if you gain 10lbs of fat but lose 10lbs of muscle, the scale shows no progress. In either of those scenarios the scale will show no change, but your clothes are fitting more loose, and just by looking in the mirror you see a few physical changes. That's why I say, "The scale can lie to you." In saying that, there can be reasons why you don't see any progress during your health and fitness journey. Here is a few of them:

1. You're doing to much cardio-To much cardio can and will put your body in a catabolic state. When this happens your body will feed off of your hard earned muscle. Losing muscle can decrease strength and slow down your metabolism.

2. You're not eating right-In terms of results, eating is 80-85% of your entire health/fitness program. If you're not eating the right foods you're just wasting time. You need to make sure you're getting enough protein/carbs/clean fats with your meal plan. You need to eat small meals often (5-6 times per day).

3. You need to push yourself-This relates to working out. Do not be scared if the weight you're lifting isn't easy. It shouldn't be. Adding resistance to those muscle fibers will allow them to rip then heal, and grow! Remember, the more lean muscle you have the quicker your metabolism will be.

4. REST!-This doesn't mean to sleep all day everyday..LOL. What this means is if you feel that working out every single day is productive and is beneficial for your body, you're wrong. Rest is just as important as working out. You have to give your body a chance to heal and recover. If you don't this can be counter-productive. Your body could plateau, or you could end up with an injury.

5. You blame genetics as the reason why you're not seeing any results-I'm not going to even dwell on this statement, because it's silly. All of us cannot achieve our health/fitness goals the exact same way. You just need to find out what works for you. Once you do, stay consistent.

6. Your water intake is terrible- Our bodies are made up of roughly 73% water. Are eyeballs, hair, skin, organs, muscles (among other things) need this essential nutrient in order for it to function correctly. When we deprive our bodies, things don't work as they should. When we don't intake enough water our bodies have to work harder in order to perform basic functions, metabolism slows down, etc. You need at least 80-128 ounces of water per day.

Those are just a few reasons why you may not be getting the results you're working for in the kitchen and in the gym. Just remember that this whole fitness thing is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time and be consistent. Your body will thank you.
