Your Goals Don't Care How You Feel!

I can already feel the eyes roll as you read the title of this blog. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, but Pete, sometimes I just don't feel like doing anything, today. Let alone, work towards any of my goals!" You might say, "I'm tired," or, "I just can't right now, I'm extremely busy." We've all been that way, and that's ok. Just know that your goals don't care how you feel!

Let's start here. I tell my clients constantly to set specific, realistic, obtainable goals. Why, because you'll give a shit! During a consultation with me it should mean more to you if you say, "I need to get in shape because I have a wedding coming up and I want to fit that dress in 3 months;" and not just say, "I want to lose weight." It should mean more to you if you say, "I want to increase my cardio and lung capacity, so I can play catch with my child by the time summer ends," and not just say, "I want to breathe better." You see what I mean? Now, what does this have to do with the title of this blog? If you're having a tough day, if you're sick, If your schedule is full, or you just don't feel like doing anything, your goals won't care. They still need to be reached. I feel you will be more inclined to work harder towards that goal if they mean more to you, specifically.

A quote I read long ago, "Excuses don't construct monuments. Action does." I'm not telling you anything new, you just need to hear it. Right about now all of the gyms are full of people with goals. You/they've become determined to reach them, or else! This is your year, right?

I'm sure there is a study somewhere out there determining that a percentage of people DON'T want to quite what they've started, and really do want to accomplish their goals. I truly believe that, but as I've stated in previous blogs, people have a hard time in achieving these goals because of excuses.

Don't ever feel that your goal cannot be obtained because of a setback. Yes, you may have to push your goal end date a little farther out, but don't quit! Set those specific goals and give a shit about them! make achieving them a priority!

I want to end this blog with a quote from Booker T. Washington. A former slave who became an educator, author and civil rights leader, "You measure the size of the accomplishment by the obstacles you have to overcome to reach your goals." Don't quit!
