How To Stay Mentally Sane While Stuck At Home!

The COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has gotten most of us cooped up inside of our homes. There is only so much we can do, before you start falling into bad habits, because of pure boredom. Here are some ways to stay mentally sane while stuck at home!

1. START EXERCISING (All caps): This is an important one (Yes, I'm a little biased), but it's so true. Exercising release chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that improve your mood. Exercising regularly can also help reduce stress and symptoms of metal health conditions like depression.

2. Schedule your week: Even though you're not going to the office or out and about like normal, you can still schedule your week which helps add purpose. Whether it is, cleaning your home; finishing that blog; vacuuming; cooking, and/or organize your "Work from home" day. This form of structure can help with keeping you settled, but stimulated.

3. Use social media wisely: We can all agree that there is a lot of substance out on all of the social media platforms. Yes, it's good to stay informed, but it's not good to have it overdone. Pick 1 or 2 times throughout the day where you can just "check in" on your social media, but set a strict time limit for it (20-30 minutes max).

4. Pick up a new hobby: I must admit this is hard for me to do, but you have time! Find something that will keep you engaged and busy.

5. Eat healthier: We are a fast pace society. We are more susceptible to grab that cheeseburger from McDonald's, then to actually cook a meal. YOU HAVE MORE TIME NOW. Pull that healthy recipe out of the drawer that you've had in there for over a year. It's healthy and will keep you busy by making it. Prep your meals. Again...YOU HAVE MORE TIME!

6. Watch the credit card purchases: Don't make any impulse buys simply because you're bored, because you will regret them later.

7. Talk to someone: Find someone you can confide in and talk to like a friend. That person can be your rock during these unsettled times.

These are just a few ways to help with your sanity while cooped up. Things will go back to normal soon, but utilize these tools today, to make the transition back to normalcy better.
